DENTIN DESENSITIZERS

Dental Sensitivity manifests itself as a short sharp shooting pain arising from stimulus such as cold water, air, salty/soda-based liquids or even when the affected tooth is touched during brushing. Sensitivity is widely prevalent affecting 40% of people worldwide.

Sensitivity can occur due to cavities, excessive tooth wear (Night Grinding), gum recession, lemon-based diet, acidity issues and improper bite pattern of teeth.

Treatment Options

Minor sensitivity can be dealt with desensitizing pastes which can be used at home (self-applied treatments). However, if the sensitivity is due to other reasons like cavities or tooth wear then the source has to be corrected rather than just the problem.

At the dental clinic sensitivity is usually treated in the following ways mentioned below.

Fillings

A tooth-coloured filling is placed on the affected tooth to block the sensitive regions and provide pain relief.
