LASER GUMMY SMILE CORRECTION

Gingivectomy

There has been an increasing demand among patients in terms of esthetic smile correction. Our lips help to provide a “Smile Frame”. A “Gummy Smile” refers to the excessive display of your gums while smiling. Usually when we smile, only the tips (3 mm) of the upper teeth should be visible.

Causes of Gummy Smile
  • Short Upper Lip
  • Short height of teeth
  • Increased vertical growth of face
  • Mal-aligned teeth
Treatment

Gummy smile can be corrected by adjusting the gums to display more volume of teeth. Dental Lasers are used for repositioning the gums under Local anesthesia by a procedure called "Gingivoplasty". This technique involves altering the gums to a higher level thereby reducing the amount of gums displayed during a smile.
